Invisalign

Misaligned or crooked teeth can cause more problems than you might realize. While crowded, overlapping, or gap teeth are often thought of as a cosmetic imperfection, the reality is that a misalignment can increase your risk for decay, temporomandibular joint disorder and gum disease.

If you were not able to have braces during your teenage years, you might think that your opportunity to straighten your teeth has passed. After all, who wants to spend the next two years with metal braces attached to their teeth? But there's a better way.

We are pleased to offer Invisalign, the effective and popular “invisible braces” system to adult and teen patients who want to straighten their teeth without the hassle of traditional metal braces.

The Invisalign Advantageinvisalign

Invisalign is a teeth-straightening system that uses a series of clear, plastic aligners to move teeth into their correct position instead of the brackets and wires of traditional braces. When the aligners are in place, they are difficult to see – even from up close – making Invisalign the best aesthetic choice.

The benefits of Invisalign are beyond aesthetics, however. Unlike braces, which require constant awareness of your diet and habits to avoid bending or breaking a wire or bracket, Invisalign allows you to eat and enjoy all the foods you normally would – even the crunchy and sticky ones. This is because you remove your aligners before eating, eliminating the restrictions imposed by traditional braces. You can also remove your aligners before a special event if you like, a feature that makes Invisalign very attractive to those with careers that involve public speaking or meeting with clients.

With Invisalign, you do not have to return to our office for frequent tightening and checking of your wires. You will take your full set of aligners home with you, and will need to simply change to the next aligner in the series as prescribed by Dr. Rahimi. We will ask you to visit us periodically so that we can check on your progress, and of course, we are always available any time you have a question or concern. Overall, however, you can expect to spend less time in the dentist chair with Invisalign.

Unlike braces, Invisalign clear aligners are virtually invisible. You can also remove the aligners to eat, brush and floss, or for special occasions. There are no metal brackets or wires that could cause discomfort in your mouth or break.

Dr. Rahimi will create a three-dimensional treatment plan that maps out the exact movements of your teeth. The Invisalign aligners are then designed to apply the right amount of force to the right place at the right time based on your plan. Dr. Rahimi will be with you every step of the way to monitor your progress and ensure your aligners are achieving the desired outcome.

Some patients do feel temporary discomfort for the first few days of wearing a new set of Invisalign trays. Usually, patients feel pressure on the teeth, which is expected.
